Shorter URLs

Have you ever wanted to shorten long web addresses (URLs) within an email newsletter or other forms of communications? Well there are free services that do just that.

How do they work? You simply submit your long web address to the website which returns a shortened version. When someone clicks on the shorter version they are automatically redirected to the address of the original URL.

Two examples of such services include:

I haven’t had need to use either but am certainly keeping a note for the future.

If you know of others, let me know.

Firefox Web Browser

Firefox is the best web browser I’ve ever used. It has never let me down and offers some great add-ons that I couldn’t do without.

My second favourite is Opera which may actually be cooler than Firefox. It contains some great features that I haven’t seen elsewhere.

Oh and both are free!

What about Internet Explorer (IE)? Only when I have no choice!

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my blog.

I’ve been in IT now for a number of years and have to confess that this is my first blog.

My reason for starting is to catalogue all the cool software and services that I discover on the web. Many of which I (and no doubt you) have used and recommended to friends. Its aim is quite simple: to increase awareness of all this great stuff.

Well since I’m a man of few words but of action (I hope) I will end this post and get down to business – blogging about the stuff I find.
