5 quick tips to creating web content

Before writing web content consider the following five helpful tips from http://www.wmictchampion.org.uk/5tips:

  1. Who are you talking to? (target your audience)
  2. Create a strong first paragraph (to encourage further reading)
  3. Use short words, short sentences and short paragraphs (apparently, average reading age in UK is 14)
  4. Use bullet points (I love bullets)
  5. Have a call for action (enable your readers)

Any other useful points please share (my call for action).

Shorter URLs

Have you ever wanted to shorten long web addresses (URLs) within an email newsletter or other forms of communications? Well there are free services that do just that.

How do they work? You simply submit your long web address to the website which returns a shortened version. When someone clicks on the shorter version they are automatically redirected to the address of the original URL.

Two examples of such services include:

I haven’t had need to use either but am certainly keeping a note for the future.

If you know of others, let me know.
